Food Preparation Coordinator – Bilingual English / Spanish

Full Time – Regular, Position Req. #268

This position is responsible for all aspects of nursing care and the supervision of clinical support and nursing staff. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day staff activities. Will interact, coordinate, and facilitate activities with all disciplines, departments, and appropriate regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the coordination of all food services including breakfast and lunch preparations, home meals, center snacks, and special events.
  • Take breakfast and lunch temperatures when food arrives and when food is served as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of the meal delivery ticket form.
  • Assist with the dining room set-up, serving of meals and cleaning as needed.
  • Prepare and update special diet lists and present trays as instructed; will use discretion to protect patient privacy as much as possible.
  • Assists with the coordination of all food preparation for day care center participants and delivery of meals to home bound participants.
  • Monitor and record daily refrigeration temperatures and label food as needed.
  • Receive and serve catered lunches.
  • Supervise special diet requirements, e.g., pureed, chopped, low salt, etc. and assures that individual nutrition plans are followed.
  • Assist with the order all foods for breakfast, snacks, and lunches from caterer and other suppliers.
  • Assist with the order and maintenance of stock of supplemental oral feedings and snack/emergency food supplies.
  • Help maintain records of meals served, participant lists, nutrition records, and other required reporting.
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of sterile techniques with all tasks.
  • Ability to operate a computer and complete data entry as it relates to documentation of kitchen services and other internal procedures.
  • Knowledge of Title XXII regulations.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA laws and privacy rules.

Qualifications:

  • Food Handler Certificate required. ServSafe Certification preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid training required.
  • High School diploma preferred.
  • A minimum of one year experience working as a Food Preparation Aide required; experience working with the elderly population and their families preferably in a community agency or health care setting preferred.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese depending on location preferred..
