The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) state exam in California, also known as the California Competency Evaluation, can be challenging for some individuals. It is designed to test your knowledge of nursing assistant duties and procedures, as well as your ability to perform basic nursing skills. The exam is divided into two parts: a written (or oral) test and a skills test.
The written test covers topics such as infection control, communication and interpersonal skills, safety and emergency procedures, and basic nursing skills. The skills test will assess your ability to perform five randomly selected nursing skills from a list of 25 that have been taught in the state approved nursing assistant training program.
It is important to prepare for the exam by studying the material covered in your nursing assistant training program and practicing the skills that will be tested. It’s not possible to say if the exam is hard in general because it depends on one’s background, aptitude and preparation. But, with the right amount of preparation, it is possible to pass the exam and become a Certified Nurse Assistant in California.
